Healthy living
for a healthy lifestyle
Hi.
I'm Ron Beckett and I put together this website in order
to help others who wish to maintain a healthy living
regime.
Firstly, you need to understand exactly what we mean by
lifestyle and why it is important to maintain a healthy
lifestyle. Weight loss is probably the most noticeable
things people do when changing their lifestyle. There are,
however, many other aspects to a healthy lifestyle. Your
lifestyle is really the way you conduct your everyday
living. There are many aspects of lifestyle that each of us
can greatly influence. For example our diet, how we
exercise, how much we sleep and rest etc. There are other
aspects that we have less influence over. For example
stress, recreation time etc. There are always lifestyle
aspects that we cannot really influence ourselves without
implementing a major change. For example where we live and
to some extent where we work.
Managing our lifestyle is all about balance. We have to
try to balance the various aspects of our life. We need to
balance the amount of time we spend at work, with family and
at leisure pursuits. We also need to balance what and how
much we eat, how much we exercise, how much indoor and
outdoor activities we engage in and how much sleep we
get.
All of this may seem like it is a major juggling act and
it only seems like that because it is. Yes, lifestyle
balancing is not easy to do and does take patience and
dedication in order to get it right. Of course, we rarely
get it 100% correct but the main thing is that we at least
make an effort and try to get the big items
balanced. Once you get on the right track then
maintaining the balance becomes the norm and you will wonder
what all the fuss was all about.
The big question is “Where do I start?” To begin
changing your lifestyle you should firstly try to understand
what exactly is driving your current lifestyle. Sit down and
make a list of all your activities. Divide them into
categories e.g. indoor, outdoor, active, passive etc. Put
the amount of time opposite each activity and you will
quickly see a pattern emerge. You should see easily if you
are not doing enough outdoor or active
pursuits.
Two great diets
for a healthy lifestyle

You can then make a similar list of what you eat and
drink. In other words look at your diet and see if you
consider this to be a balanced healthy lifestyle. The next
thing to do is to draw up a programme of change. Remember,
it is all about balance so do not overdo things. You can
also have too much time on leisure activities to the
detriment of your worklife. Be sure to include your diet in
any changes. If you need to lose weight draw up a plan.
Implement the changes on a gradual basis and every four
weeks make a new list of your activities and see if the
balance has changed. It will not take long before you begin
to notice a positive change in yourself. A good lifestyle
balance will mean that you will feel better, less stressed,
more energetic. Weight loss does not have to be a chore.
When done properly it can be fun and invigorating giving you
that extra energy to enjoy life
better.
As
I said above, you cannot change everything, but once you
begin making some of the basic and easier changes you will
see positive results. This will give you the impetus to move
forward and look at some of the more difficult issues. Like
all great journeys, changing your lifestyle begins with the
first step. It is up to you to begin this
journey…..
On
the left of this page you will see a number of links that
will provide you with lots of information on healthy living
and how to cure or avoid many common
ailments.
Enjoy...and have fun...
